Preparation for the week starting January 18-24

The bible reading for the week is taken from EZRA 1-5

  • The opening song is Song 85

TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

  • Jehovah Keeps His Promises”: we are getting introduced to Ezra with the video entitled introduction to Ezra.get the video Here.

    • Ezr 3:1-6—Jehovah’s prophecies never fail (w06 1/15 19 ¶2)
From Ezr 3:1-6In the seventh month of 537 B.C.E. (Tishri, corresponding to September/October), the faithful returnees offered their first sacrifice. The Babylonians had entered Jerusalem in the fifth month (Ab, corresponding to July/August) of 607 B.C.E., and two months later the city’s desolation was complete. (2 Kings 25:8-17, 22-26) As foretold, Jerusalem’s 70-year desolation ended right on time. (Jeremiah 25:11; 29:10) Anything Jehovah’s Word foretells always comes true.

and from Ezr 5:1-7—Jehovah can maneuver matters for the success of his people (w06 1/15 19 ¶4; w86 1/15 9 ¶2w86 2/1 29 box)

  • Digging for Spiritual Gems:
    • Ezr 1:3-6—Why were the Israelites who did not volunteer to return to Jerusalem not necessarily weak in faith? (w06 1/15 17 ¶5; 19 ¶1)
    • Some may not have returned to Jerusalem because they were materialistic or weak in faith, but this was not true in every case. First of all, the 1,000-mile [1,600 km] journey to Jerusalem took four or five months. Moreover, settling in a land that had remained desolate for 70 years and doing the rebuilding work there would require much physical stamina. thus individuals with physical ailments, advanced age, and family obligations, may not have been able to return to Jerusalem

    • Ezr 4:1-3—Why was an offer of help rejected? (w06 1/15 19 ¶3)
    • It would have resulted in interfaith. The faithful remnant rejected an offer that would have meant forming a religious alliance with false worshippers. (Exodus 20:5; 34:12) Jehovah’s worshippers today similarly take no part in any interfaith movements.

    • What does this week’s Bible reading teach me about Jehovah?

    • What points from this week’s Bible reading can I use in the field ministry?
  • The week Bible Reading: Ezr 3:10–4:7

APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY

  • Return Visit: Demonstrate how to make a return visit on someone who responded well to the presentation that featured the last article of the current Watchtower. Lay the groundwork for the next visit.
  • Bible Study: Demonstrate a Bible study. (bh 20-21 ¶6-8)

LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

  • Song 40 will be used to start this meeting parts.
  • “All These Other Things Will Be Added to You”: Talk based on Matthew 6:33 and Luke 12:22-24. Invite publishers to relate experiences in which Jehovah fulfilled his promise to care for their material needs when they put the Kingdom first.
  • Your Speech—“‘Yes’ and yet ‘No’”?: (10 min.) Discussion. (w14 3/15 30-32)

  • Song 44 is the song to end the meeting
See you next week. Remember to shake as many hands as you can. 👍

January 11-17

2 CHRONICLES 33-36

TREASURES FROM GOD’S WORD

I learned a lot from this part of the meeting this week. I cant wait to participate. You can look at my preparations and copy if you like. Don't forget to meet me in the chat room.

Digging for Spiritual Gems:

  1.  What prophecy was fulfilled when Manasseh was taken to Babylon?
  2.  What encouragement can we draw from Josiah’s example?
  3. What does this week’s Bible reading teach me about Jehovah?
  4. What points from this week’s Bible reading can I use in the field ministry?
1.
It was the prophecy in Isaiah 7:8 which states:

"For the head of Syria is Damascus, And the head of Damascus is Rezin. Within just 65 years Ephra·im will be completely shattered and cease to be a people."

Though  on about two or three occasion, 2nd and 20th year of this prophecy of Isaiah, Israel was deported, the final one which utterly ‘broke’ up Israel so as to be ‘not a people,’ accompanied by a colonization of Samaria with foreigners, was under Esar-haddon, who carried away Manasseh, king of Judah, which was in the twenty-second year of his reign, sixty-five years from the utterance of the prophecy in Isaiah 7:8. When we consider Ezra 4:2,3,10.we see the foreigners asking to join zerubbabel to build the wall after the command by Cyrus king to rebuild Jerusalem.

2.
We have  alot to learn from Josiah. No matter the negative circumstances of childhood need not prevent us from coming to know God and serving him. For example, if we hapen to grow up with a non witness Gardner or parent, we just have to look for a positive influence ,mostly in the congregation. A positive influence Josiah may have had during his early years could have come from his repentant grandfather, Manasseh. Whatever positive influences Josiah might have had eventually produced fine results. So it can be with us.

3.
Jehovah is compassionate and patient. However, his compassion and patience are not limitless. He is a God of prophecy, his words always come true.

4.
I plan to use
36:15-17 to help my student understand why they must make progress in dedicating their lives to Jehovah because . if they are to survive when Jehovah brings an end to this wicked system of things they must respond favorably to the Kingdom-preaching work

APPLY YOURSELF TO THE FIELD MINISTRY

I look forward to those fascinating presentations.

LIVING AS CHRISTIANS

  • Repentance Makes a Difference:
  • Forgive Freely:
Congregation Bible Study: ia chap. 6 ¶15-23, the box “Two Remarkable Prayers,” and the chapter review (30 min.)
